Vikki and Thomas met working in the public sector and connected trying to make sense of the dynamics and dys/functions of large organisations.
Recognising how we each contributed to and were affected by the group and systems we were part of, we began to explore different ways of understanding and more effectively working in and with groups. This led us to create Co-Labour Consulting.
Vikki Sinnott has an intense curiosity about how humans make sense of their experiences. She enjoys creating opportunities for individuals and groups to think, reflect, learn and grow and provides that through consulting, facilitating, training and as a therapist and supervisor.
Vikki is a psychologist with extensive experience working with individuals, groups and organisations seeking to deepen their understanding of how they work. She has worked in state and local governments across jurisdictions, health services, research, teaching, and in a range of roles with community-based organisations. Vikki has consulted with emergency services, community groups, government departments, employers, peak bodies and professional organisations.
She is particularly interested in the interplay between the layers of experience we all juggle – our internal world, the worlds we share with others, and the worlds we collectively create. The dynamics between these worlds can be challenging, enlightening and powerful for each individual, team, and organisation.
With post-graduate qualifications in psychology, women’s health and public health, Vikki is committed to deepening her understanding of the intersections of psychodynamics, systems thinking, and accountability. She is a member of multiple professional associations including the Australian Psychological Society and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.
Thomas Mitchell is committed to working with individuals, teams, and organisations to create more focused workplaces and practices in an effort to assist the development of more humane organisations. As a consultant, coach, and educator, he works with people to identify solutions by thinking deeply about the groups and systems they are engaging with.
Thomas has extensive experience with individuals, teams and organisations and working with them to clarify roles, tasks, and professional aims and desires. He has worked across state and federal government departments and agencies, focusing on workforce development, and strategy and policy development. Thomas also currently works in the higher education sector and is passionate about education and training.
Thomas has a particular interest in times of transition, individual and organisational. Working with those in transition stems from Thomas’ own experiences of changes in long term employment and career focus. These experiences led Thomas to a desire to work with others as they shifted and changed focus, managed the fallout of challenging workplaces, and work to align the personal and professional.
Over the last several years Thomas has enhanced his extensive professional experience by learning from, and working with, leaders across the executive coaching, group dynamics, and systems psychodynamics fields.
Thomas has a Master of Leadership and Management (Organisational Dynamics) from NIODA, a Master of History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Melbourne, and is a current PhD candidate at NIODA. Thomas holds a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Academic Practice, a Diploma of Leadership Coaching and Mentoring, and is an accredited Analytic Network Coach. He is a member of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations and OPUS, an Organisation for Promoting Understanding of Society.
